Meaning that I have socks, and Eva has socks, but they aren't the same socks, but they fill the same purpose...did any of that make sense?
Before my last IVF in December, I wrote a post about needing a pedicure, even thought it was winter, because I didn't like looking at my feet up in the stirrups during ultrasounds if they looked unkempt. Lots of commenters responded that they always made sure to wear nice socks during ultrasounds, and then two weeks later Eva said she had a gift for me and sent me these dear socks in the mail. She sewed on the hearts herself.
What to say? Without her, I would lose my mind. She is my back channel infertilty suport group. I tell her all of the really crazy ideas, feelings and thoughts that are just too personal to blog about. When I joined the infertility blogoshpere last year, I really hoped I'd a close friend who I could support and be supported by, and in Eva, I found that person. We 'speak' nearly every day, we keep each others lives in mind, we comiserate over trying to communicate this experince to our spouses, friends and therapists. In short, we are friends, forged in the crucible of infertility.
When I wear these socks to an ultarsound (as I've done with my antral follicel counts this winter), I feel loved and supported, just that extra little bit that makes it feel bearable.
I'm really looking forward to the day I meet her in person, and I can give her all the hugs I've saved up.
Here is a picture of the socks Eva made for me (its a large picture, because I don't know how to size things):

cute!

Those socks are SO cute! I loved that she sewed a heart on them! I would have never thought to do that, mostly because I'm not good with a needle. I'm glad you have Eva, that is a beautiful friendship you two have.
